Walter "Wally" Latall - Contributor/Umpire
Wally has been a Softball Umpire for 50 years and served as the ASA/USA Metro Phoenix UIC and the Arizona UIC. He was an umpire in 8 ASA/USA Softball National Championships, served as UIC for 6 National Championships and as Coordinator for 5 National Championships. He organized 4 National Umpire Schools and held the position of Assistant Instructor. Wally was an umpire at all levels of ASA/USA Softball including Men’s, Women’s and Youth Fast Pitch and Slow Pitch Softball and at the NCAA, NJCAA (CAL-JC & ACCAC), and AIA Softball levels. He umpired in 3 NCAA Division 1 Regionals and 1 NJCAA Division 1 National Championship and had 3 AIA Championship Game assignments. Wally served on the PAC-10 Travel Crew for 7 years. He received the 2002 National Federation of Officials (NFOA) Arizona Softball Official of the Year award. In 1999 he Umpired the North American Fast Pitch (NAFA) World Series. In his distinguished ASA/USA Softball career, Wally attained the Gold Level of Excellence in the Medals Program, he became a Charter member of the National Indicator Fraternity and became a Charter member of the Elite Umpire Program in both Fast Pitch and Slow Pitch. In 2002 he was appointed as an International Softball Federation (ISF) Certified Fast Pitch Umpire. In 2005 he was the recipient of the ASA Rocky Mountain Region 13 Umpire Award of Excellence. Wally has volunteered with Special Olympics Softball for 48 years at various local levels, Special Olympics North America and at the International Level umpiring the 2015 World Games.
Lee Elaban - Player
Lee played shortstop on several Arizona Fast Pitch teams including Huachuca Federal Credit Union, and Culiver. In 1977, Lee was selected as the AZ Softball Foundation Player of the Year. In 1978 through 1981, playing for HFCU and Culiver, he was MVP, and selected to all tournament teams to include Tempe Kiwanis, Graham County, Safford Coors Invitational, Tucson Finley Lites, Viva Oly, and Bisbee Invitational, El Paso.
He was a member of the Culiver team that captured numerous district, state, and regional titles. Participated in ISC World Championships, 1987, 1988 and 1989, placing fifth in Decatur, IL. In 1988 Lee played with city of Tucson fast pitch champions, coached by Joe Rivera.
Jody Miller-Pruitt - Player
In her time at the University of Arizona, Jody was a two-time All-Pacific Region, and two time All-Pac 10 Conference honoree, as well as a two-time All-American. In her senior year she earned All- College World Series honors. She played a key role in Arizona’s “no hitter” legacy as the catcher whose career spanned 14 no-hitters from 1990-1993. Considered one of the best defensive catchers in the game during her career at UA, over four years, she made only 6 errors, a .995 fielding percentage. On the offensive side, Jody is also in the top ten in career doubles (29), career triples (9), career home runs (13), and career RBI’s (114), in addition to career stolen bases (49). After college, Jody went on to become a graduate assistant coach for UA, and a member of the coaching staff for the College World Series championship team. She went on to coach at Sunrise Mountain High School where they were the 2004, 5A High School Runner-Up Champions, 2012 Div II High School Runner-Up Champions, 2013 Div. II High School State Champions, and 2017 4A High School Champions.
